There are true heroic leaders in our world that are worthy of recognition, admiration, and appreciation for the lessons we’ve learned.

Nancy Pelosi is one such Heroic Leader.

Whether or not you agree with her politics, she deserves a place on a short list of great leaders.  Undoubtedly, she is one of the most effective and consequential leaders of all time.

With her stepping down as Speaker of the House and of any leadership role in the Democratic party, I want to honor Nancy. To recognize and champion her for the formidable leadership she has demonstrated over decades, paving the way not only for all women but for everyone.

There are many lessons I’ve learned, particularly as I’ve watched her navigate the brutal challenges of our time.

Here’s what stands out:

Her Passion – to public service is undeniable and beyond question. Even Mitch McConnell spoke of her “concluding her historic tenure” as the House Democrats’ leader and her “consequential and path-breaking career.” It is not without passion that one can achieve such results or acknowledgment from a rival party leader.

Her Courage and Conviction – as a fierce, steadfast and resolute advocate of the American people are always evident. Consequently, she has helped achieve monumental legislation and results that impact the everyday person…think the Affordable Care Act, Inflation Reduction Act, Climate Change Bill, and Gun Safety legislation.

Her Role Model – for other women is iconic. Breaking barriers for women, through her House leadership roles. Becoming the first female House minority whip in 2001, the first female minority leader in 2002, and first female Speaker of the House in 2007, becoming the highest-ranking woman in U.S. history at that time. Demonstrating that we can do it, that we can achieve all that we desire and make a difference for others.

Her Commitment & Purpose – Staying true to her why…the children…is front and center. Waking up each and every morning fighting for our children and their world ahead. As she said recently, “I’m in the arena, you go in there, you go in, you have to be ready to take a punch, and you have to be ready to throw a punch, for the children.” Knowing your why is what sustains you.

Her Legacy – Achieving major legislative victories for all of us, monumental in scope in her desire to build a better world.

Today we honor Nancy. A true heroic leader.

With heart and brilliance,

Noreen
